Different Materials or Make of Patio Doors

1. Aluminum

These are the least expensive of all materials, but unfortunately are also the least durable, as well.

2. Wood

French doors made of wood would have to be the most expensive kind. They are high-class and top-of-the-line and are considered to be conservative because of the wood finish.

Make sure that the type of wood you purchase is kiln-dried so it will withstand the sun, rain, and snow.

Despite all assumptions, almost all exterior wood doors are of very superior quality and are therefore not prone to cracking and shrinking. Through time, you may need to give a brand new coating of varnish or paint, but that is not really a big deal.

3. PVC Vinyl

These are often reinforced with steel or aluminum to provide extra strength. And among the three, French doors that are of PVC Vinyl material are of mid-range quality and durability.

They are very easy to clean-up just by wiping.

4. Glass/Fiber-Glass

This design is quite common but since there are a number of glass designs to choose from, there is still a way for your French doors to be unique from the rest.

If you live in an area that experience harsh winter weather, make sure that the glass to your patio doors is double-paned.

Buying your French doors do not have to be hard. With the vast collection of designs available in the market now, you can definitely find the right one for your home.
